New slip-on
The Kia EV9 is getting a new entry-level version, which means the starting price for the electric SUV drops considerably. From now on, the whole EV9 party starts at just under €68,000.
Until now, those in the market for a Kia EV9 had to rely on the €71,495 Launch Edition and the more than €7,000 more expensive four-wheel drive Launch Edition GT-Line. Now Kia is introducing a new basic version: the Air. This brings the starting price down by almost €4,000, because as an Air the Kia EV9 costs at least €67,995. While the drivetrain is the same as that of the Launch Edition. This means that the Kia EV9 is rear-wheel drive, has 204 hp and a battery pack with a capacity of 99.8 kWh. The range, at 563 km, is even higher than that of its more expensive brothers; the Launch Edition travels up to 541 km and the Launch Edition GT-Line up to 450 km.
Of course, you do sacrifice equipment compared to those two. However, the Kia EV9 Air is anything but ‘bare’, even though it is the entry-level model for the time being. 19-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, the 29.6-inch screen with navigation system and Kia Connect, a 360-degree camera, electrically operated front seats and seat heating and ventilation for the front seats and second row: it’s all included. In terms of interior color, you can choose from dark gray with black, or light gray with dark gray accents. As with the Launch Editions, the seats are partly covered with vegan leather. You can order the Kia EV9 Air immediately.
