Kia has released the technical specifications of the plug-in hybrid Sorento. The new Sorento Plug-in Hybrid has an electric range of 57 kilometers and will be in Dutch showrooms from March 2021.
Kia announces the technical data of the plug-in hybrid version of the brand new Sorento. The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid benefits from the same powertrain that Hyundai hangs in the plug-in versions of the Tucsonen Santa Fe. Also in the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid we find a 1.6 T-GDI, a new blown four-cylinder that delivers 180 hp and 265 Nm. This petrol engine works together with a 91 hp and 304 Nm strong electric motor. The system power is 265 hp and 350 Nm.
More interesting with a plug-in hybrid is of course the electric range that the car achieves. The Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid squeezes an average of 57 kilometers from its 13.8 kWh battery pack, which is housed under the driver and passenger seat. Shifting is done in the always four-wheel drive Sorento Plug-in Hybrid by means of a six-speed automatic transmission. Good news for those who sometimes hang something behind their car: the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid has a maximum towing weight of 1,500 kilos.
Prices Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid
The first plug Sorentos will see the light of day this week in Kia’s factory in Hwasung, Korea. The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid can be ordered directly and will be available at Dutch dealers from March. The starting price of the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid is € 49,595. For that amount you drive the ComfortLine version. For the DynamicLine and DynamicLine Plus you will lose € 52,595 and € 55,595 respectively. The absolute top version is the ExecutiveLine, which costs € 58,595.
The Sorento is available as a regular Hybrid from € 45,995. The Plug-in Hybrid is therefore less than five grand more expensive. The starting price of the Sorento is of both versions far below that of the previous Sorento. The previous Sorento was available in the Netherlands from at least € 59,995. Thanks to electrification, the new Sorento is about 15 grand cheaper than its predecessor.
