In the market for a plug-in hybrid SUV with a more than usable electric driving range? Be sure to bet on the Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid, which comes no less than 70 kilometers away on pure and only electrical power.
We already know a lot about the new Kia Sportage. The SUV will be available with a mild-hybrid powertrain, as a full hybrid and, for the first time in the model’s history, also with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Kia kept the electric range of the Sportage Plug-in Hybrid under wraps for a while, but is now finally releasing it. What seems? It certainly doesn’t disappoint!
Like the Mild-Hybrid and Hybrid, the four-wheel drive and more than 1,800 kilograms weighing Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid has a blown 1.6 T-GDI under the hood, a petrol engine that in the Plug-in Hybrid, however, works together with a 91 hp electric motor. This gives the plug-in hybrid Kia Sportage a system power of 265 hp and 350 Nm, good for a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. The top speed is set at 191 km/h. More interesting with a plug-in hybrid is of course the electric range. The Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid has a 13.8 kWh battery pack from which the SUV manages to squeeze no less than 75 electric kilometers. With a maximum charging capacity of 7.2 kW, the package can be filled with fresh power.
Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid
The hardware of the Sportage Plug-in Hybrid provides a slightly smaller luggage space than that of the Sportage Mild-Hybrid and Sportage Hybrid. The Sportage Plug-in Hybrid swallows 540 liters instead of 587 liters.
Prices Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid
The starting price of the Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid is set at €42,595. For that amount you get the Sportage Plug-in Hybrid as DynamicLine. The plug-in hybrid Sportage is also available as DynamicPlusLine, GT-Line and GT-PlusLine.
