Land Rover Defender gets a 525 hp V8

Land Rover introduces the Defender V8. It is the first time that the new Defender will have a powerful V8. Both the short Defender 90 and the long Defender 110 are available with V8. Techzle has the prices.

At the top of the Land Rover Defender’s power ladder is the 404 horsepower plug-in hybrid P400e, a four-cylinder that just skips the 400-horsepower six-cylinder P400. Both versions are now relegated to wallflower. Land Rover introduces the Defender V8, a version with a mighty 5.0 liter eight-cylinder supercharged engine that generates no less than 525 hp and 625 Nm. It is the most powerful Defender ever made.

The Defender V8 always has an eight-speed automatic. With its fierce drivetrain, the short Defender 90 V8 sprints to a speed of 100 km / h in just 5.2 seconds. Its top speed: 240 km / h. An average consumption of 14.5 / l 100 km is the price you pay for it. Land Rover is also adjusting the suspension of the Defender V8. The brand mounts a new electronically controlled differential at the back and the stabilizer bars of the new top Defenders are thicker than those of the regular ones.

Land Rover is further expanding the Defender range with new design packages. From now on you will find the Bright Pack, Extended Bright Pack and the Extended Black Pack on the order list of the Land Rover Defender. In addition, Land Rover is bringing a more extensive version of the Pivi Pro infotainment system to the Defender, a system that is linked to an 11.4-inch large display. That screen is no less than 60 percent larger than the regular display. The Terrain Response system is expanded with a new Dynamic mode. In this driving mode, both the throttle response and the steering are a lot more direct.

From the outside you can recognize the Land Rover Defender V8 in particular by its four tailpipes and special 22-inch (!) Large alloy wheels. Behind those enormous slippers are 20-inch brake discs with Xenon Blue-colored calipers hidden. The Defender V8 is available in the colors Carpathian Gray, Yulong White and Santorini Black, colors that, with the exception of the latter, are combined with a black roof. The furnishings include Ebony Windsor leather-covered seats that are finished with contrasting accents. The steering wheel is covered with Alcantara, behind it are chrome-colored paddle shifters.

The Land Rover Defender 90 V8 has a price of € 201,485. For the Defender 110 V8 you have to pay an amount of € 206,895.
