On the same level as the M4 CSL or not?
BMW would have liked to keep them under wraps for a while, but the first photos of the new BMW M3 CS are already on the digital street. Optically, the BMW M3 CS is just as fierce as the M4 CSL.
For those who are not completely familiar with the various variants that BMW already offers of the M3 and M4, here is a brief overview. As is undoubtedly known, the M3 and M4 are the full-fledged M versions of the 3 and 4 series. The M versions without an addition after the name have a 480 hp 3.0 six-in-line. Above that are the M3 and M4 Competition, which are a bit more powerful with 510 hp. The previous generation M4 had an ultimate top version called GTS, but you will no longer find that name with the M4 at the moment. This time the absolute top version is called M4 CSL. The gap between the M4 GTS and M4 Competition was filled by the M4 CS and the BMW M3 also received a CS version. Heavy butt for the M3 CS.
The BMW M3 CS is clearly overloaded with design elements that you already saw on the M4 CSL. The new M3 CS has similar external extras and promises to be quite potent. The question is whether the BMW M3 CS will be just as powerful as the M4 CSL. After all, that would not be completely logical, since the CS with the M4 was, as said, a step below the absolute top version. The previous BMW M3 CS was 10 hp more powerful and 10 kilos lighter than the M3 Competition. If we continue that line, it would mean that this new BMW M3 CS will be at least 520 hp powerful and will therefore also lose a few kilos compared to the M3 Competition.
At the end of this month, BMW will officially pull the curtain on the new M3 CS. Then it also becomes clear how the CS version compares to the M4 CSL.
