The iPhone 17 Air replaces the iPhone 17 Plus, but a leaked photo now shows a rather special design choice.
Leaked photo iPhone 17 Air
An X user known as ‘Majin Bu‘ shared a photo of a part for the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air. The photo is a bit blurry, but unmistakably shows an iPhone with a pill-shaped, raised camera bar at the top. On the left side of the bar is a circular cutout for a single camera. On the right side of the bar there appears to be an LED camera flash and a small microphone hole.
The ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air is the only iPhone 17 model expected to have a single rear camera, so the case could indeed be for that device. The upcoming iPhone SE 4 will also have a single camera on the back. However, that device will appear very soon and there has not yet been a single rumor about such a camera bar.
Majin Bu was previously right when he correctly predicted the “Desert Titanium” color name for the iPhone 16 Pro models seven months before the devices hit the market. But he was also wrong sometimes. For example, when he said that an iPad 11 would be released in 2023.
iPhone 17 series
There are rumors of an elongated camera island for both the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro models. So it’s also possible that the design change seen in this photo will come to the entire iPhone 17 lineup. That lineup consists of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, and will likely be announced in September.
Due to its ultra-thin design, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to have limited specs, including only one rear camera, one speaker, and an A19 chip instead of the more powerful A19 Pro chip. Logically, it will also have a smaller battery than the other iPhone 17 models. We also expect a 6.6-inch OLED screen with a Dynamic Island, Face ID, 8 GB RAM for Apple Intelligence support and more.
