  3. It can be easier in the beginning if you straighten your legs unevenly. That is, you put one foot on the ground about eight to eight inches further forward.

The right movement:

    1. The first swing is important. You do this with your hands by giving the tire a good push to the left or right. Move your upper body in the opposite direction. Try out which side is easier for you.
    2. The legs stand still and are firmly anchored to the floor. Just move your upper body, together with your hips, and keep tension in the abdominal area (important!). You should keep your arms up, straight or bent, so that they don’t get in the way of the circular hoop.
    3. The sequence of movements can either from right to left or from the front to the back respectively. That said, you’re pushing your body back and forth rather than moving it around in a full circle. Which direction you choose is up to you. You can also vary. In the beginning, many find it easier to move back and forth.
    4. Now perform this movement evenly and rhythmically to move the hula hoop. You can imagine it like this: Always push your body against the tire at the point where it touches your body.

    If it doesn’t work out that way at the beginning, don’t despair and stick with it. Once you have internalized the movements and literally got the hang of it, it will be easy for you to keep the tire up. First of all, that’s what the Hullern says to practice. Then the right training can start.

    Learning how to hula hoop is easy with these additional tips:

    • Place: Find a place in your apartment or outdoors where you have enough space to loll around and there is no risk of knocking over something with the tire.
    • Dress: Choose comfortable sportswear. However, this should not be cut too wide, otherwise it will prevent the tire from rotating. If you want, you can train without a belly, as the hula hoop holds better to bare skin than to clothing.
    • Duration: Start with short workouts and slowly increase. For example, in the beginning you can exercise five to ten minutes every other day and work your way up to 30 minutes a day.

    There are a variety of hula hoops that vary in size, weight and material.

    Choose the tire size according to your height. When you set it up in front of you, the height of the tire should be between your pubic bone and navel. Sheathing is recommended, especially with stainless steel, as the hard material can hurt when circling. The inner ring can be smooth, wavy or nubbed to increase the massage effect. We recommend, high quality tires to buy so that you can enjoy it for as long as possible. To try out the sport first, you can borrow a tire and then buy a used one.
