At the beginning of this month, AutoWeek was able to report that the Lexus NX will receive an extra adventurous version called Overtrail. Now the Dutch importer has presented the Lexus NX Overtrail itself. This produces better images, but also new details.
Earlier this month, AutoWeek wrote about the (re)introduction of three versions for the Lexus NX. The result? The starting price of the NX dropped to €61,995 due to the arrival of the Comfort Line. That wasn’t the only thing. We also highlighted a completely new version for the Lexus NX: the Overtrail. We could tell you both the price and what it has to offer of that Lexus NX Overtrail, but for now we had to make do with just one photo. The Dutch importer has now also given the Lexus NX Overtrail a podium itself, which means that we can now show you the car in more detail.
The name ‘Overtrail’ broadly gives away how Lexus is positioning the new version. Indeed: as an extra adventurous version. The Lexus NX Overtrail, like the President Line, is based on the Executive Line, but offers some extras. It sits on black 18-inch alloy wheels around which Lexus has wrapped off-road rubber. More black details? Are there. And a lot too. For example, the side mirror caps are in black, as are the door handles, roof rails and wheel arch edges. The frame and grille of the Lexus-characteristic grille have been polished and the NX Overtrail is the only NX flavor available in the Moon Desert color you see on these plates. The detail spotter will undoubtedly notice on the tailgate that the Lexus brand name is in gray on the Overtrail. Anyone who sees the NX Overtrail next to an NX in one of the other versions will notice that the Overtrail stands slightly higher on its feet. That’s exactly right: the ground clearance has increased by 1.5 centimeters to 20 centimeters. In addition, Lexus has also strengthened the rear suspension.
Lexus NX Overtrail
Details that are specific to this version can also be seen in the NX Overtrail. For example, the new version has black artificial leather-covered sports seats with yellow-brown (khaki) cheeks. The door panels and the storage compartment in the center console are also in this color.
Despite the greater ground clearance and the off-road tires, Lexus has no illusions that the Lexus NX Overtrail is a tough competitor for cars like the Ineos Grenadier or Jeep Wrangler. “It is not a purposeful off-roader, but the adjustments make the Lexus NX Overtrail better suited to going off the beaten track,” says the importer. The Lexus NX Overtrail is available as an NX 350h with four-wheel drive and as a plug-in hybrid and also four-wheel drive NX 450h+. As an NX 350h it costs €78,995. The NX Overtrail with plug-in hybrid hardware costs €79,995. You can order immediately.
