Logitech G Pro X Keyboard – Change mechanical switches yourself

Logitech G Pro X Keyboard

The original Logitech Pro keyboard was extremely popular among professional gamers. The only drawback was that it could only be supplied with the mechanical Romert-G key switches. That will change from now on with the new Logitech G Pro X keyboard. This keyboard offers the possibility to change the mechanical switch under the keys. The Logitech G Pro X has a so-called tenkeyless design in which the numerical part on the side is omitted. This design makes it easy to carry around and leaves extra space for the mouse. The G Pro X is not only a special keyboard due to its interchangeable switches. The keyboard is only available directly from Logitech itself on the website.

Under the keyboard are large rubber feet that ensure that the keyboard is firmly in place. The keyboard is connected via a detachable, specially designed, micro-USB cable that ensures that the cable stays in place when the keyboard is moved. We do miss the media and macro keys, but fortunately you can also control media via the fn key in combination with the function keys. Of course, the keyboard also has RGB lighting and created profiles can be stored on an onboard memory profile.

Adjust switches

In totality you can choose from three different switches. GX Blue has a traditional audible and tactile click. The GX Brown is designed for competition and has a less audible click with tactile feedback. The GX Red is silent and has a smooth touch, ideal for live streaming. The keys are changed using pliers that Logitech supplies with a set of new switches. You press this around the switch so that it comes off the keyboard. You can then push the new switch into place.

Conclusion

In short, a nice keyboard for those who want to determine down to the last detail what kind of mechanical switches are used, for example clicky switches for most keys, but linear switches for the keys that are used for gaming. Since not everyone is waiting for a keyboard whose switches can be changed, there is also a slightly cheaper Logitech Gaming Pro keyboard. It features all of the aforementioned features, but has soldered GX Clicky switches. Unlike the G Pro X, the Gaming Pro is available in all stores.
