Sports sedan
The ‘new Lotus’ is not afraid to venture into territory where founder Colin Chapman probably never wanted to go. After the electric SUV Eletre, a real electric sports sedan will soon appear. We now see them driving past camouflaged again.
With the arrival of the Lotus Eletre, quite a few sacred houses were knocked down at Lotus. The new Lotus referred to in the corridors as Envya in these new photos is therefore less shocking. Yet the Envya is also a very special case for a Lotus. After all, it is a sedan-like and we have not seen that since the Carlton / Omega. A closer look seems to indicate that it is a liftback, but that could of course be a hoax.
What we already know for sure is that you can expect impressive performance from the Envya. Not only the nose resembles that of the Eletre, logically the technical part is also comparable. The Eletre is available with 612 hp to no less than 918 hp electric powertrains and, thanks to an 112-kWh battery pack, can travel up to 600 km on a charge. You can bet that the much lower and more streamlined Envya takes it up a notch in terms of range. Sporty driving should also be fine, although it has to simplify, then add lightness nothing more to do. This Lotus probably weighs 2,000 kilos on the scale. We will probably know more later this year.
