Lotus has shown its brand new hypercar, the Evija, in public for the first time. The Evija is decked out in a color scheme that many motorsport enthusiasts will undoubtedly recognize immediately.
The fully electric Lotus Evija has so far only been shown in a kind of camouflage print while driving. That was also a test behind the scenes. Today that will change, because Lotus is sending the production version onto the roads at Goodwood. During the Goodwood Speedweek they went out with an Evija in the famous JPS livery of Lotus F1 cars from the 70s and 80s. According to many, one of the most beautiful color schemes in the history of Formula 1. Incidentally, there was also a orange-colored Evija shown (last photo).
Although the event was unable to attend the event due to the pandemic, it wasn’t just Lotus employees who attended. The son of the Goodwood organizer and owner of the estate, Lord March, was allowed to ride in the Evija. He thought that was a great experience and we understand why. The Evija has four electric motors that release up to 2,000 horsepower on all four wheels. In less than three seconds the Evija is at 100 km / h from a standstill and even more impressive are the only nine seconds it takes to reach 300 km / h.
Originally it was planned to start production of the Evija this year, but that seems to have been delayed – undoubtedly due to the current situation. According to previous reports, the Evija will cost around € 1.88 million. There you get a hypercar, limited to 130 copies, which leaves almost everything behind in terms of power. Interesting detail: if you take it easy, according to Lotus you should also be able to cover up to 400 km with it. We can only imagine that the happy future owners will not try that in practice.
