Is the end really in sight?
The bad news surrounding Fisker just keeps coming. Now Magna, which builds the Fisker Ocean in Austria, says it is unlikely to resume production.
It seems only a matter of time before Fisker goes bust. Production was suspended in March, a possible financial lifeline disappeared from view and Fisker hopes to sell stock models with tens of thousands of euros in discounts. All bad signs, and now there’s another one. The CEO of Magna, which is responsible for the production of the Fisker Ocean at Magna Steyr in Austria, expects that production will not be resumed.
In a earnings call Magna CEO Swamy Kotagiri indicates: “Production is currently at a standstill and our outlook is that there will be no further production,” quotes Yahoo Finance. Magna expects this to reduce its turnover by as much as €371 million. A big setback for Magna too. AutoWeek is still awaiting a response from Fisker. The possible last hope rests on Henrik Fisker’s efforts to find backers. The Dane has even put his home in Los Angeles up for sale for the equivalent of €32.5 million.
