Twice V6, once EV
The new Maserati GranTurismo has slowly made its way to the European car market. That sporty coupé will not remain alone, just like before, it will have an open sister model. That Masearti GranCabrio has now surfaced in the chilly north of Sweden.
The previous generation Maserati GranTurismo has had to wait a long time. The coupe came on the market in 2007 and remained available until 2019. There is now a brand new GranTurismo at the Maserati dealers. In the form of the GranCabrio, that Italian sportsman will receive a version with a fabric folding roof. A real convertible. Just like the Maserati Grecale and GranTurismo, the GranCabrio also comes with an electric Folgore flavor, but the one in these photos ‘just’ has a combustion engine under the hood.
The exhaust pipes at the bottom of the rear of this test sample of course reveal that this is not an electric Maserati GranCabrio. The dense GranTurismo is available as Modena with a 490 hp 3.0 V6 and kicks it as Trofeo to no less than 550 hp and 650 Nm. The electric Folgore version will be even more powerful. It delivers 761 hp and 1,350 Nm of electric power, good for a 0-100 sprint in 2.7 seconds and a top speed of – hold on – 320 km / h.
We expect Maserati to present the GranCabrio this year. The electric GranCabrio Folgore will make its appearance a little later.
