Mazda 2 gets update without price increase

Mazda 2 2022

The Mazda 2 for model year 2022 will receive an update. The main improvements can be found under the hood. There you will find renewed, even more economical Skyactiv-G engines.

Look, Mazda is releasing a photo of the Mazda 2 for the new model year. But wait, the differences are not visible on the outside. So open that hood! There you see the renewed Skyactiv-G engine. The engine management of the 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine – available as Skyactive-G 75 and Skyactiv-G 90 – now provides better response to acceleration. Earlier and a little more torque is also available. A higher compression ratio also makes the engine more efficient: 1 in 20.8 (4.8 l/100 km). The automatic transmission also delivers better fuel economy and lower emissions.

The additional cost of the automatic transmission drops to 3,000 euros

Cabin improvements

The new Mazda 2 is already in the showrooms this week. It is nice that the dealers use the same starting prices (17,990 euros) as before. Still, the equipment is richer than from the outgoing model year. The 2022 model now comes standard with cruise control, manual air conditioning, leather steering wheel and extensive adjustment options for both front seats. The Comfort version has 15-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, heated seats and privacy glass. The top versions have wireless Apple CarPlay. The Comfort is now also available with a 75 hp engine.

Mazda 2 Sportive

To mark the renewal, the brand introduces the Mazda 2 Sportive promotional model. As the name suggests, sporty options are featured on the exterior, as are a reversing camera and LED headlights. Inside you will find black seats with red stitching and the 7-inch MZD Connect infotainment system. The starting price is 20,190 euros. The Sportive is also available with an automatic transmission. The additional cost of the automatic transmission for the Mazda 2 falls to 3,000 euros.
