Mazda is expanding its range with the 2 Hybrid, a car we already know as the Toyota Yaris Hybrid. It will be in the showroom next to the really Mazda 2 in the showroom. Now we know how much it should cost.

At the end of last year, Mazda presented the 2 Hybrid. That’s a Toyota Yaris Hybrid with Mazda logos on it, kind of on the same principle as Suzuki’s Swace (Toyota Corolla) and Across (RAV4). So Mazda suddenly has a hybrid car in the B-segment in the showroom. The Mazda 2 Hybrid will be there from March, to be precise.

The Mazda 2 Hybrid obviously has exactly the same powertrain as the Toyota Yaris Hybrid, so you get a 1.5 three-cylinder engine that generates 116 hp power together with an electric motor. Enough to help the Mazda 2 Hybrid from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds, but in addition, with an average consumption of 3.8 to 4 liters per 100 km (manufacturer’s specification, respectively with 16- or 15-inch wheels) for economical rides.

Before you can enjoy it, you must first hand over at least €22,890 to the dealer. Then you get the Mazda 2 Hybrid as Pure, with standard, among other things, central door locking with remote control, electric front windows, automatic air conditioning, a 7-inch display and an audio system that can handle Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Adaptive cruise control is also present. For €24,990 you get the keys to the Mazda 2 Hybrid Agile, which includes a reversing camera, 15-inch alloy wheels, power rear windows and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever as extras. At the top of the food chain is the Mazda 2 Hybrid Select, which is on 16-inch alloy and also has LED headlights and fog lamps, LED mood lighting, two-zone air conditioning, a head up display and parking sensors. It costs at least €28,690.

In terms of prices, the Mazda 2 Hybrid is in line with the now most expensive regular Mazda 2. It is available as a SkyActiv-G 90 with six-speed automatic transmission from €22,490 and costs €28,890 as the most expensive Signature version. Then, however, you have a 90 hp powertrain (instead of 116 hp) and an average stated consumption of 5.4 l/100 km.
