From €36,990
Shortly after the introduction of the Mazda MX-30 R-EV, Mazda released the prices of that electrically powered MX-30 with an interesting piece of engine technology on board. The Mazda MX-30 R-EV is only slightly more expensive than the regular electric MX-30.
The electric Mazda MX-30 recently received a new variant: the MX-30 R-EV. Like the well-known MX-30, the Mazda MX-30 R-EV is always electrically powered, but it is not a fully electric car. The MX-30 R-EV has a combustion engine on board that functions as a range extender, and that is not just one. Mazda already has a stubborn piece of technology with its Skyactiv-X engines and takes it a step further with the Mazda MX-30 R-EV. The petrol engine is a rotary engine! The Mazda MX-30 R-EV has a starting price of €36,990 in the Netherlands, making it only €550 more expensive than the regular electric variant.
For just under 37 grand you get the Mazda MX-30 R-EV as Prime-Line. The versions are completely identical to those of the MX-30 EV without a range extender, so the MX-30 R-EV is also available as an Exclusive Line, Advantage and Makoto. However, to celebrate the arrival of the new engine version, the MX-30 R-EV is also available in a special Edition R variant for €45,590.

Difference MX-30 R-EV and MX-30 EV
The Mazda MX-30 R-EV is not just an electric MX-30 to which Mazda has added a rotary engine. For example, the battery pack with a capacity of 17.8 kWh is a size smaller than the 35.5 kWh large one in the regular MX-30. The MX-30 R-EV can drive up to 85 kilometers with it. The range extender is an 830 cc small machine that generates 74 hp and gets its zest for life from a petrol tank with a capacity of 50 kilometers. The rotary engine drives a generator that charges the battery pack. Just like the generator and the electric motor, the block is simply under the hood.
The electric motor of the MX-30 R-EV is also different from that in the regular MX-30. With 170 hp and 260 Nm, it is stronger than the one that delivers 145 hp in the MX-30 EV. In 9.1 seconds the MX-30-with-rotary motor buzzes to a speed of 100 km/h (MX-30 EV: 9.7 seconds). DC charging is possible with up to 36 kW. Thanks to V2L hardware you can also charge electrical devices with the MX-30 R-EV.
