Dressed on the outside, undressed on the inside
The Mercedes-Benz A-class is now more than four years old and so an upgraded version is waiting in the nursery of the brand to spread its wings. The renewed A-class has been sent out again, but this time we see the top model for the first time.
Then we are of course talking about the super fast Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic, with its 387 hp blown four-cylinder which, in the form of the A45S, even has a 421 hp and 500 Nm strong superlative. In any case, this packed test sample does not exactly hide its AMG genes. For example, we observe a diffuser with four exhaust tailpipes, hefty wheels with AMG brakes behind it and an aggressive snout full of lips and edges.
So what exactly will change? Probably not that much, maybe even less than with the less horny versions of the A-class. They seem to get a grille whose shape more or less corresponds to that of the younger C-class. The AMG models have their own snout containing a differently shaped grille consisting of a railing with vertical bars. Count on slightly modified bumpers and slightly different headlights. The interpretation of the light clusters on the back will probably also look slightly different, but here too you will not slip from your chair in surprise when you see the facelift model.

We also expect Mercedes-Benz to upgrade the MBUX systems in the A-class. Earlier we saw something of the interior of the revised A-class. Then it seemed strongly that the small selector lever to control the automatic transmission should clear the field, the same applies to the handy ‘island’ housed in the center tunnel for operating the MBUX system, among other things.
Do the fierce AMG variants get extra power? In theory that would be possible, but it is not inconceivable that Mercedes-AMG will find the 387 hp and 421 hp that the two top AMG versions mobilize enough. After all, major competitor Audi RS3 is 400 hp strong and the BMW 1-series has to make do in its most powerful form as M135i with 306 hp. It does not appear that the A-class will receive a successor after the departure of the current generation.
