Mercedes-AMG C63 spotted

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class has already been spotted in numerous versions. Now the most intense variant is added to the list: the Mercedes-AMG C63. It may also be the version that will cause the most tears among enthusiasts.

The first test specimens of the fifth-generation Mercedes C-class could already be admired on this site in November 2018. Since then, we have presented you with the C-class Estate, but also the Mercedes-AMG C53. The ‘mild’ AMG gets a 10 in its type designation, but probably loses two cylinders under the hood.

The fact that the entry-level AMG is going from six to four cylinders is perhaps understandable. It becomes more difficult when we have to say that the upper AMG, the 63, will probably be equipped with a four-cylinder. That means a huge decline, because the current C63 is virtually the only car in its class that is still powered by a V8.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that the car is slowing down when it comes to power. If there is actually a four-cylinder hidden in the C63, it concerns the two-liter of the Mercedes-AMG A45 S, which has already been raised to the extreme. of the 510 hp of the current C63 S.

On paper, the loss of face remains limited, but we are very curious to what extent Mercedes-Benz can succeed with such a powertrain to make the C63 just as spectacular as its predecessors.

Optically that should in any case succeed. Compared to the C53, the C63 looks significantly thicker even under a thick layer of camouflage material. The car sits low on the wheels, has wide wheel arches, four huge exhaust tailpipes and of course the well-known Panamericana grille, apparently biting into the asphalt.
