Mercedes-AMG GLC Coupe

The brochure for the Mercedes-AMG GLC has not yet been printed properly and we are already presented with the ‘Coupé’ version. Naturally, it follows the same recipe, only with a more sloping roofline at the rear.

Last summer, Mercedes expanded the GLC range at the top end with the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and 63 SE Performance. Directly the top version and the sub-topper. Just like with the Mercedes-AMG C-class, the GLC only uses four-cylinders, which means that even the most powerful version makes do with a relatively modest power source. Well, modestly; the 2.0 four-cylinder engine already delivers 476 hp and 545 Nm and is also supported by a 204 hp electric motor. Together they provide an insane system power of no less than 680 hp and up to 1,020 Nm of torque, which can be distributed completely variable between the front and rear wheels. Now that drivetrain goes straight to the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 SE Performance Coupe. The GLC Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and continues up to 275 km/h. This makes it exactly as fast as the regular Mercedes-AMG GLC. The electric driving range is 12 km, after all, the emphasis with this plug-in is on sporty performance.

It goes without saying that the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupé is also a well-known story in terms of technology. It contains a 407 hp version of the 2.0 four-cylinder, which can temporarily supply 14 hp extra power thanks to a starter generator. This mild-hybrid power source helps the GLC 43 Coupé to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.8 seconds. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h. Again, these are exactly the same figures as the regular Mercedes-AMG GLC.

Both AMGs are of course clearly recognizable as such. They have the characteristic AMG grille, thicker side skirts, 19- to 21-inch wheels, a thick diffuser (even more extensive on the 63) and round (43) or trapezoidal (63) exhaust tips. In the interior you will find a sports steering wheel covered at least partly with nappa leather, a special steering wheel for AMG versions. look for the MBUX infotainment system and in the GLC 63 SE Performance Coupé we also see sports seats. Prices are not yet known, the regular Mercedes-AMG GLC costs €134,291 as a 43 and €159,321 as a 63. You can read more about the Mercedes-AMG GLC here.
