Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé under the knife

Mercedes-AMG is busy behind the scenes with the development of a sharpened AMG GT 4-Door Coupé. A packed test copy of that facelifted AMG GT 4-Door Coupé has now surfaced in public.

Mercedes-AMG presented the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018, a more practical brother of the Mercedes-AMG GT that is considered a sporty alternative to the CLS. The five-door liftback is very young with an age of less than two years, but that does not stop Mercedes-AMG from holding the model up to the light.

To be fair, the update that Mercedes-AMG is implementing on the GT 4-Door Coupé does not seem to be drastic. The snapped test specimen only has a wrapped muzzle. The front bumper appears to be revised, otherwise the competitor of cars like the Porsche Panamera is probably mainly tackled under the skin. It is now known that Mercedes-AMG is preparing a plug-in hybrid variant of the GT 4-Door Coupé. It is not marketed as a particularly efficient model. Allegedly, it is an extreme AMG variant that, thanks to a biturbo 4.0 V8 coupled to an electric motor, will deliver against 800 hp. Furthermore, it is not inconceivable that Mercedes-AMG will introduce the 63 and 63 AMG flavors to mild hybrid technology. These machines already benefit from mild hybrid technology in the GLS and S class. For the time being it will unfortunately remain speculation.
