Mercedes-Benz CLS subtly renewed

Mercedes-Benz CLS subtly renewed

The Mercedes-Benz CLS has been refreshed, although the updated version can only be distinguished from the original presented in 2017 with a magnifying glass. The renewed CLS will include renewed bumper work all around and there are more personalization options.

Mercedes-Benz is refining the nearly four-year-old CLS in detail. According to the men and women in Stuttgart, the renewed CLS has a more sporty look. What is it in him? Well now. The versions with the standard Avantgarde exterior package have a redesigned front bumper where the openings on either side are optically connected by a black strip. At the bottom of that new front bumper is a silver-colored splitter. The rear bumper is also new. From now on there is a diffuser-like ornament between the exhausts of the Avantgarde versions. A silver-colored strip now runs across the entire width of the rear bumper.

Anyone who chooses the CLS with the AMG Line Exterior package will get similar bumper work, although the place is decorated with various black AMG-derived details. There is a small spoiler edge on the tailgate. More little news? Certainly. Both the CLS with Avantgarde and AMG Line exterior package get a new radiator grille. The copy on the Avantgardes is made up of small dots, the AMG version of vertical blades. Mercedes-Benz is also making new paint colors and new light alloy available.

There are also minor adjustments on the inside. For example, the center console can be finished with new materials and there are new color combinations for the upholstery. The CLS also benefits from the arrival of a new steering wheel, a nappa leather trim with glossy black spokes and chrome accents.

The top version of the CLS is and remains the AMG 53 4Matic +. This variant is also very subtly sharpened top appearance flat. The powertrain of this variant is not tinkered with, which means that under the hood there is again a 435 hp 3.0 six-cylinder that temporarily has 22 hp extra thanks to EQ Boost. Mercedes-Benz brings, among other things, a 265 hp (+22 hp thanks to EQ Boost) strong four-cylinder diesel to the CLS, the 300d 4Matic. This engine version will be between 194 hp and 330 hp 220d and 400d 4Matic, although it is not yet known whether it will also come to the Netherlands. The engine range also includes two well-known powertrains: the 299 hp (+22 hp with EQ Boost) powerful 350, the 367 hp (+22 hp with EQ Boost) strong CLS 450 4Matic.

Prices for the Dutch market will follow soon.
