Mercedes-Benz Concept CLA: electric hypermiler ready for debut

The Munich IAA is the stage on which Mercedes-Benz will soon present the Concept CLA Class. The Concept CLA Class promises to be a fairly concrete preview of the electric successor to the current generation of CLA.

The Mercedes stand at the Munich IAA is filled with many electric, refreshed models this year. The updated EQA and EQB can be viewed up close and the modernized EQV will also make an appearance. But there’s more. Mercedes-Benz is bringing a study model with which it previews an important truly new model: the new electric CLA. Mercedes-Benz is now releasing a visual warm-up.

The preview of the car that will eventually replace the CLA is not surprisingly called Concept CLA Class. The final production version will be the first electric passenger car from Mercedes-Benz on the brand new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA). MMA is a new modular base on which it will park compact and medium-sized EVs. According to the Germans, the Mercedes Concept CLA Class is the next step in Mercedes’ EV future. The CLA must be particularly efficient, partly thanks to the knowledge and technology acquired during the development of this Vision EQXX. The brand therefore speaks of an electric range of up to 750 kilometers and an average energy consumption of 12 kWh/100 km.

In any case, on the new teaser image that Mercedes-Benz is now releasing, we see a smooth nose. With its strongly rounded snout and headlights half interrupted by an LED strip, the whole thing reminds us somewhat of the front of the Fiat 500e, although the CLA is of course a car of a completely different order. That will of course be a sedan, while the Fiat 500e is a significantly smaller hatchback. We have already had a spy shot of the new electric Mercedes-Benz. You can view the photos here.
