Mercedes-Benz EQC 4×4² is very adventurous

Mercedes-Benz has presented a very striking study model. We’re talking about the EQC 4×4², a fiercely decked out version of the electric SUV for which no mountain seems too high.

Five years ago, Mercedes-Benz presented the downright bizarre G 500 4×4², an upgraded and expanded variant of the previous G-class. The current G-Class also has such a 4×4² variant, but the angular off-road king is not the only SUV that Das Haus wants to pour its 4×4² spice mix on. The brand is today showing the EQC 4×4², a variant of the electric EQC that is similar to the G 4×4².

Mercedes-Benz says it wants to push the boundaries of the EQC with the EQC 4×4². Judging from these photos, that doesn’t seem to be a lie. The one-off is much higher on its feet than the regular EQC. The ground clearance is not 14 centimeters, but no less than 29.3 centimeters. This means that the ground clearance is almost six centimeters greater than that of the standard G-class. The EQC 4×4² must be able to plod through 40 centimeters deep water without any problems. Like the G 4×4², the EQC 4×4² has portal axles. This means that the drive shaft does not run in the same line as the wheel hub, but in this case it is placed a bit above it. The EQC 4×4² has an approach angle of 31.8 degrees at the front and an exit angle of 33 degrees at the rear. The monster also has special off-road rubber around its 20-inch alloy wheels. Mercedes-Benz has considerably expanded the wheel arches to give the technical adjustments under the car the necessary leeway.

Whether the EQC 4×4² goes into production? It seems strong to us. However … we also thought that in 2018 when Mercedes-Benz showed the G 4×4², a production version of it came a few months after its unveiling. So never say never!
