Mercedes is working hard on expanding the electric EQ family. This comes in the form of the SUV version of the EQE, which is now showing more.
Mercedes has a challenge in terms of EV names. In regular models, SUVs have been identified for some time with the letters ‘GL’, followed by the letter of the model series to which they belong. We know the GLA next to the A-class, the GLC next to the C-class, and so on. However, it has now also been decided that the electric models will be linked to a model line in a similar way, but with ‘EQ’.
With this, however, there is no longer any possibility to distinguish between SUVs and non-SUVs in those models, because ‘GLEQE’ does not sound so good. In the case of the EQA and EQB, the solution seems clear: those cars are always an SUV for the time being. However, in the case of the EQE and EQS, a mid-sized sedan and a large liftback respectively, that distinction has to be there. Both cars will also get an SUV brother. It is already visible that Mercedes describes these models as the ‘EQE Limousine’ and ‘EQS Limousine’, which leaves room for versions with the addition ‘SUV’.
large cabin
None of this is new, but it is interesting. The car that we assume is the EQE SUV is showing itself better than ever today. For example, we can now take a look at the rear lights and the side window is more exposed. It is striking that, as with the EQE ‘Limousine’, there is a short nose and therefore a long, large passenger cabin. Unlike the EQE, the ‘greenhouse’ is also quite high, which should result in a spacious and actually spacious interior.
AMG
Our spy photographer also states that we have the AMG version of the EQE in front of us here, but we actually see no reason for that. That does not matter, because it seems clear that such an AMG version is coming. Thanks to the EQS 53 AMG, we also know what such an AMG could look like. An AMG version of the regular EQE is also on the way.
