Mercedes-Benz EQS and S-Class are allowed to park themselves

Mercedes-Benz has received official approval to allow the EQS and S-Class to self-park in a parking garage. Mercedes has been working on this for some time and now it can also happen in practice.

Do you have to catch a flight quickly and do you no longer have time to look for a parking space and then squeeze the car into it? Mercedes-Benz has the solution: the car will park itself in a free space. More than two years ago, the Germans already achieved this in collaboration with Bosch with the S-class, now Mercedes-Benz has permission to offer that function in practice.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the EQS will soon have this option as an option. Before you get too excited: there is only one parking garage in Stuttgart where this will be possible. The APCOA car park at Stuttgart Airport. P6, to be precise. Mercedes-Benz also tested automatic parking there two years ago. The German traffic watchdog KBA has now given its approval to allow cars to park there autonomously. You have to reserve a spot for it in advance via the APCOA app and then the car understands where to go.

Of course, Mercedes hopes that this approval will soon lead to more locations to be able to offer this. The plan is to make it possible in hundreds of parking garages worldwide in the coming years.
