Mercedes-Benz highlights Vision EQXX

Mercedes-Benz is working on a fully electric study model, the Vision EQXX. With this, the brand wants to develop new technologies in the field of electric driving, which will eventually find their way into production models. The Formula 1 department is also involved.

Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, outlined the strategy for the coming years in an extensive presentation. Two things stood out the most: significant cutbacks will be made and electrification will play a much greater role. Developments in that area go very fast. In an effort to become the leading electric vehicle manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz is throwing the Vision EQXX into the fray. This concept car has (it seems from the teaser) a silhouette that appears to be designed to maximize aerodynamic efficiency. However, it is not so much about the appearance, but mainly about the technological platform on which the EQXX stands. A multidisciplinary team is working on it, which also involves knowledge from Formula 1.

Furthermore, not much is known about the Vision EQXX. Ultimately, the goal is to develop innovations that can make their way into production models, indicating that we should not expect a production version of the EQXX. Mercedes-Benz speaks during the presentation of a ‘spectacular efficiency and range’, the car should be able to drive from Beijing to Shanghai on a single charge, a distance of approximately 1,200 km. For reference: Mercedes is aiming for a range of 700 km for the EQS.
