More than 100 kilometers electrically
The absolute cream of the Mercedes salmon is caught under the Maybach label. The Maybach version of the S-class is now also available as a plug-in hybrid and that powertrain makes the Mercedes-Maybach S-class more than €40,000 less expensive than before. Of course it’s not a bargain.
Until now, the Mercedes-Maybach S-class was only available in the Netherlands as a mild hybrid S580 4Matic and as a powerful S680 4Matic. The top model S680 4Matic has a magnificent 612 hp and 900 Nm strong 6.0 V12, the S580 4Matic is endowed with a 4.0 V8 of 503 hp and 700 Nm. The Dutch importer charges a price of €335,308 for the twelve-cylinder model. The Mercedes-Maybach S580 4Matic with V8 stands for €244,403 in the order books. There is now a variant below: the plug-in hybrid Mercedes-Maybach S580 e 4Matic.
The Mercedes-Maybach S580 e 4Matic has no V12 or V8, but a 3.0 six-cylinder engine that generates 367 hp. That petrol engine works together with a 150 hp electric motor that brings the system power to 510 hp. With that plug-in hybrid muscle power, it sprints to 100 km / h in 5.1 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. The 28.6 kWh (gross) battery gives the luxurious and 2,575 kilo weighing tolimo an electric range of 102 kilometers. Switching is done with an automatic transmission with nine gears. At 325 litres, the luggage compartment is smaller than that of the plug-free S580 (505 litres).
Mercedes-Benz is asking €203,049 for the plug-in hybrid S580 e 4Matic. This makes it €41,354 cheaper than the Mercedes-Maybach S580. The plug-in hybrid top sedan is also available as a special Night Series (€252,685). You can read more about that here.
