For the iPhone 16 Pro Max I have tested two covers: Metropolis LT and Civilian. I had already used the latter in combination with my previous iPhone.

UAG Civilian Case
Most covers and solutions from Urban Armor Gear are coarse, large and in some cases rude. They do prove time and time again that with these covers you can protect your precious devices to the limit. With the Civilian series, UAG tries to address everyone, even users who prefer not to use an extremely robust case.

UAG cases in practice
Last year I already used the Pathfinder and Monarch Pro on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. This year we received the above covers from UAG to test for our new 16 Pro Max.
The iPhone cases from Urban Armor Gear are usually equipped with a robust appearance. This is different with the Metropolis LT and Civilian. Of course it still has a unique design, but better suited for everyone. The present and reinforced TPU bumpers are designed to absorb shocks and spread the impact to protect your phone during a fall.
Both covers ensure that the iPhone naturally becomes larger and thicker. Most people look for an ultra -thin solution for protecting their iPhone, but I personally think a stronger case is better, if it is handy.
Camera control
For the iPhone 16 series, UAG has had to adjust their covers for the camera control. Unlike Apple or other manufacturers, Urban Armor Gear has chosen to remove a large piece from the case for this camera button. A little too big in my opinion. A large space has been created on the side and this makes the iPhone less protection against dirt, sand and dust.
Because there is such a big hole in the cover, you will notice this especially on the side of the screen. The edge is very thin, so you often press it down and there is a lot of play on it. It seems that UAG had to make this choice, because they were not 100% sure how the camera control would fit in the design. I hope they will change this in the future.
Smart design
Although the iPhone covers from UAG are making your device wider and robust, it does have a SIM design. The edge has a good grip and the ‘tactical grip’ ensure that they are less thick on crucial points. As a result, it is in the hand and you have less problems with the dimensions.
At the front, the cover has a raised edge that is higher than with smartphone covers from other manufacturers. Because of this I had to get used to the operation of the screen. For example, opening the reporting center from Dynamic Island is no longer possible and you have to do this from the clock.
Large tangible buttons
The UAG Hoes is equipped with extra large and palpable buttons, this is especially useful when you have (work) gloves on or want to operate the iPhone in your back or pocket. You can press the buttons well, but are provided with opening on the sides. That is a special choice of UAG, because dirt can come in. A dense solution would have been better.
Key
All UAG covers are equipped with integrated key cord anchor points. A key cord is a portable accessory with which you can hang your iPhone around your neck or attach it to your backpack or something similar. You can easily attach the cord to the anchor points via a loop. The key cord offers convenience and safety, so that you can quickly grab your iPhone and have less chance of losing or dropping the device.
Magsafe and Apple Pay
Despite the cover your iPhone makes you a lot thicker, you can simply use Apple Pay for wireless payments. The case also has support for wireless charging and is equipped with a sturdy magnetic magsafe ring. This makes the case fully compatible with a magsafe charger. The iPhone also ‘sticking’ with ‘floating’ magsafe charger. In addition, you can also use the case in combination with a magsafe wallet.
Conclusion: UAG Metropolis LT and Civilian Case

Do you want to optimally protect your dear iPhone? Then the Civilian Case of Urban Armor Gear is a good choice. This not only offers fall protection up to 6 meters and a shock -absorbing soft core, it also looks stylish. Do you want a slightly more unique design? Then the Metropolis LT with Kevlar is recommended.
Due to the design and high -quality materials you can use your smartphone carefree during your work, adventure or in daily situations. Thanks to the so -called traction handle -design and texture, the case is in the hand, despite the device making the device larger and thicker. Although I suspect that people with small hands may find the case too fat. Finally, the strong built-in Magsafe module ensures that you can charge your iPhone wirelessly and use Magsafe accessories.
Unfortunately I am less satisfied with the recess for the camera control of the iPhone 16 (Pro), which is too large, making it very sensitive to sand, dust and dirt.
