MG releases the Dutch prices of the 5 Electric. The MG 5 Electric is an electric station wagon and is therefore a unique offer in the car world for the time being. However, the starting price of the electric MG 5 Electric does exceed the promised 30 mille.
MG is expanding its range, which includes the short-lived immensely popular ZS EV and the Marvel R Electric, with the 5 Electric. The MG 5 Electric is the first relatively affordable electric station wagon on the Dutch market and is therefore a unique offer for the time being. MG called for the introduction of the 5 Electric that the final starting price would be below 30 mille. That didn’t quite work out. The starting price of the MG 5 Electric is €33,485.
For just under 34 grand, MG presses the keys to the MG 5 Electric Standard Range in Comfort version. The MG 5 Electric Standard Range has a 177 hp and 280 Nm strong electric motor and a 50.3 kWh battery pack. The Standard Range comes 320 kilometers on a full battery. MG also supplies the electric station wagon as a Long Range. The MG 5 Electric Long Range has a larger battery pack and a less potent electric motor than the Standard Range. The Long Range is 156 hp and 280 Nm strong and has a 61.1 kWh battery that gives the MG 5 Electric a range of 400 kilometers. The starting price of the MG 5 Electric Long Range is €36,985. Both the Standard Range and the Long Range are also available as more fully equipped Luxury and cost in that configuration €35,485 and €38,485 in succession.
Dimensions
The MG 5 Electric is a 4.6 meter long station wagon with a wheelbase of 2.66 meters. The luggage compartment has a capacity of 479 liters. If you throw the back seat flat, you can carry 1,367 liters of stuff with you. The MG 5 Electric is about 3 centimeters shorter than a Golf Variant and about 4 centimeters shorter than the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer, models that are all more spacious due to the lack of a battery pack and all about 600 liter or more. Good news: the MG 5 Electric can tow up to 500 kilos (unbraked). A 3-phase on-board charger is standard in both the Standard Range and Long Range. This means that you can charge up to 11 kW on an AC charger, while the maximum charging power is 87 kW on a DC fast charger. Like the updated MG ZS EV and the Marvel R Electric, the MG 5 Electric has a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system that allows you to charge external devices.
Equipment
The Comfort version of the MG 5 Electric includes standard features such as LED lighting all around, heated front seats, parking aid, a 7-inch digital instrumentation, 16-inch alloy and keyless entry. There is also an infotainment system linked to a 10.25-inch screen, which supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. More pampering on the base version comes in the form of adaptive cruise control, Lane Keep Assistance and even Traffic Jam Assistance. The Luxury version adds things like climate control, a 360-degree camera, an automatically dimming interior mirror, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, artificial leather upholstery and 17-inch alloy wheels.
