More info
MG has released new information about the Cyberster at the Chengdu Motor Show. The MG Cyberster is an electric roadster with butterfly doors that is also coming to the Netherlands and that compensates for its obesity with loads of electric horsepower.
Rarely has the unveiling of a new model been as gradual as that of the MG Cyberster. Little by little, MG releases more information about the electric roadster and today we will learn more about the special model.
MG has now officially released that the Cyberster will at least have a version with two electric motors that together produce 544 hp and 725 Nm. The front electric motor is 204 hp strong, the rear one kicks it up to 340 hp. A hefty amount of horsepower and Nm, but the open two-seater certainly needs it. This four-wheel drive variant weighs 1,985 kilos, according to information previously received by AutoWeek. But the Cyberstar knows what to do with it. In 3.2 seconds, this 544 hp top version pounds from a standstill to a speed of 100 km / h. In the bottom of this strongest Cyberster is a 77 kWh battery, good for a range of 580 kilometers. Please note: for the time being this concerns information about the Cyberster as it will be marketed in China. In particular, the range – which is determined according to the CLTC method – will be lower here due to the more accurate WLTP measurement method.
The MG Cyberster also comes as 314 hp and 340 hp strong rear-wheel drivers. The least powerful variant has a 64 kWh battery, good for a range of 500 kilometers. The 340 hp powerful variant comes up to 520 kilometers away. Please note: these are also values determined according to the Chinese measurement cycle.
The MG Cyberster was created to celebrate 100 years since the original MG was founded. As small and slender as the original MGs – or cars like the MX-5 – are, the Cyberster is that big. It measures 4.54 meters in length, is 1.91 meters wide and 1.33 meters low. Its wheelbase: 2.69 meters. That makes it 20 centimeters longer than BMW’s Z4. Striking design elements are the gull-wing doors and of course the arrows that MG has installed in the rear lights. In the interior we see a whole built around the driver with three displays in a wide panel.
From 2024, the MG Cyberster will also be for sale in the Netherlands. We expect more information soon about the European versions intended for our country. The Cyberster started its existence as a very intense study model that MG decided to take into production after positive reactions.
