MG Cyberster officially unveiled

MG is working on its first sports car: the MG Cyberster. The concept car was previously seen on computer animations, but now MG has released images of both the interior and exterior of the ‘real’ car. The two-seater roadster looks anything but traditional.

Although MG wants to go back to the rich sports car history of the brand with the electric Cyberster, almost nothing reminds us of the past. Perhaps the round headlights are somewhat reminiscent of the MGA and MGB, but then you’ve had it. The ‘Union Jack’ rear lights are a nod to the English past, although MG has long been in the hands of the Chinese. The exterior of the Cyberster was already known, but now it can be seen from all angles and under the light of a studio. In particular, the design of the grille is striking, which consists of a lot of lines. Another special detail: the LED strip, which serves as daytime running lights, continues towards the doors.

The Cyberster’s interior is just as stunning as the exterior. MG calls it a ‘gaming cockpit’, which does not seem to lie, especially given the shape of the steering wheel. That resembles a controller of a game console, where the large ‘L’ and ‘R’ buttons at the top are the most prominent. You probably operate the direction indicators with this. In front of the driver is a large screen showing all essential vehicle information, and a smaller vertical screen on the center console. The Cyberster’s dashboard is therefore quite minimalist. The lines in the doors are a bit busier, but the question is whether this wild styling will also reach the production stage.

MG has not yet formally ruled on the latter. However, the brand promises a range of 800 kilometers and enough power to shoot to 100 km / h in ‘less than three seconds’. With that, the Cyberster could possibly be a good rival for the upcoming Tesla Roadster. The Cyberster can be seen at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month.
