MG is extending the manufacturer’s warranty from five to seven years. The measure applies to both the well-known MG ZS EV and the new MG EHS and also applies to existing customers. There is, however, a (small) caveat with regard to one specific part of the MG warranty.
Until now, the cars of the now Chinese MG are sold with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty up to 150,000 km. MG buyers therefore get two years, although the maximum number of kilometers is not tinkered with. So it doesn’t matter that much to frequent drivers. Anyone who already owns an MG ZS EV will not be subordinated: in those cases too, the warranty will be updated to the new term. The seven years applies to all components of the car, but there is no mileage limit on the body warranty.
And that catch? This relates to the warranty on the battery pack. Until now, it was 8 years and 150,000 km, but now the warranty on the battery is also set at 7 years and 150,000 km. This makes no difference to existing customers, because they simply keep the old conditions in this area.
So, in a nutshell, all new MGs come with a seven-year or 150,000 km whole-car warranty, with no mileage limitation on the body warranty. Existing MGs also have a seven-year warranty on the entire car, but also retain the 8-year or 150,000 km warranty on the battery pack.
