The first test versions of iOS 26 have been released, but Apple has several problems with the biggest update of the year. These are them!
iOS 26 problems
Apple has released the first test versions of iOS 26! In the meantime, the first two betas have appeared, so that developers and users can already get started with the new functions of iOS 26. Test versions are not intended for iPhones that are used daily, because new functions often do not yet work properly. We put the biggest problems of iOS 26 among each other!
1. New (unclear) design
The most important change of iOS 26 is the new interface. Apple has introduced Liquid Glass on the iPhone, making menus and frameworks of glass. To create this glass effect, the background of your iPhone remains visible. This brings a new design to your iPhone, but also has a big disadvantage. The text in the foreground is very difficult to read, because the background of the iPhone remains visible.
This problem plays especially with the control panel and the reporting center in iOS 26. Notifications in the reporting center are difficult to read, especially if you use your own photo as a background on your iPhone. The same applies to the control panel: controllers and buttons are not clearly visible due to the glass effect. In the meantime, Apple has made the background blurry in a new test version, but the readability remains poor in some cases.

2. Battery life
Test versions of software usually ensure that the battery of a device is empty faster. That is no different with iOS 26, so that in many cases the iPhone will no longer last all day. That is not very strange, because the test versions of iOS 26 are intended to detect software errors. To do that, the iPhone runs multiple processes in the background, which cost a lot of energy.
The battery life of the iPhone is therefore considerably deteriorating with the first test versions of iOS 26. This is temporary, because in later betas of iOS 26 the software is optimized. The battery of the iPhone is therefore less loaded and lasts longer. Do you want to prevent your iPhone from emptying much too quickly? Then we recommend not to install the test version of iOS 26, but to wait for the final release after the summer.

3. More problems
The new design of iOS 26, incidentally, causes more problems, which it is noticeable that the software is not yet completely finished. For example, symbols of applications are regularly not visible and widgets are not yet working properly. Moreover, the interface does not work smoothly, with regular interruptions if you change between different tabs or applications. These problems are solved in a later test version of iOS 26.
Apple always develops the new software for the iPhone first in English, so that certain terms have not yet been translated. For example, ‘Adaptive Power’ comes to the iPhone for the first time, which was translated into ‘adaptive stream’ in the second version. In the test versions of iOS 26 there are more problems with translations, for which Apple simply needs more time. These translations can cause confusion for users.

Release of iOS 26
Other problems in iOS 26 are crashing apps and buttons that disappear on the keyboard. These software errors are resolved in a later version of iOS 26. Apple has months to improve iOS 26, because the final update will only be published in September. The company releases the test versions of iOS 26 so early in order to solve all problems in the software in the summer.
The release of iOS 26 falls in September, after Apple has announced the iPhone 17 series. The company usually releases the most important software versions of the year on the second or third Monday of September. It is expected that iOS 26 Monday 15 September 2025 comes to your iPhone.
