Mini Electric Convertible unveiled: still in production

You would think that Mini is now a bit done with the current generation of its three-door and convertible, but nothing could be further from the truth. Although the successor has been eagerly awaiting for a while, there will be a nice expansion for the electric Mini Electric at the last minute. The open version of the Mini Electric (or the electric version of the Mini Convertible, depending on how you look at it) presented last summer is still going into production. With this, Mini enters a market in which there is hardly anything to choose from; that of the electric convertible.

Mini says it has taken to heart last summer’s “very positive feedback” and is therefore proceeding to build a small series. You read that right, so it will not be a mass product. There will only be 999 of them, for the European market. 30 will be available in the Netherlands.

Known recipe

The Mini Electric Convertible can be distinguished from its brothers with a fuel engine, among other things, by the special 17-inch wheels that we already know from the regular Mini Electric and a special ‘e’ on the nose and rear. In this case there is also a sticker that indicates which copy of the 999 it concerns.

Furthermore, Mini mainly sticks to the well-known recipe of the Mini Electric and that also applies to the powertrain. A 184 hp electric motor helps the Mini Electric Convertible from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.2 seconds. This makes it a tight second slower than the closed variant. The WLPT range is also somewhat lower: 201 km instead of 235 km. What is equal, according to Mini, is the luggage space of 160 liters.

As mentioned, only 30 copies of the Mini Electric Cabrio built in the Netherlands remain in our own country. From April, the standard richly equipped Mini Electric Convertible is available for €62,990.
