After the regular powered Minis, AC Schnitzer has now also plunged into the Mini Electric. It gives the EV just that little bit more face, although this AC Schnitzer decoration will remain quite a rarity.
AC Schnitzer took the current generation of the Mini through a bath full of sporty parts before. Then it also went to work under the hood. With the Mini Electric, a bit of an afterthought, the German tuner works more subtly. The electrically powered Briton gets the same 19-inch wheels as his brothers, tackled four years ago, a thick splitter under the front bumper and a coilover that lowers the Mini to 35 mm at the front and 30 mm at the rear. That, together with some AC Schnitzer logos, is what extras have been prepared. In terms of power it stays the same, AC Schnitzer does not dare to increase the electric motor.
The tuner’s timing is a little bit unfortunate. Mini has unveiled a fairly solid facelift for the three-door, five-door, Convertible and Electric at the end of January. Probably AC Schnitzer had not fully counted on the fact that the still quite fresh Electric would go right along with the nations. So if you ever see the AC Schnitzer trim pre-facelift pictured here, you know it’s a pretty rare story. Maybe that also makes it an extra fun story for the tuner.
