Mitsubishi Colt

This Mitsubishi Colt is another one in the ‘rare survivor’ category. It is not only nice to see a Colt of this generation again, but certainly also one that still looks so beautiful.

The Mitsubishi Colt is still the best-selling Mitsubishi ever in our country and the generation we have before us had a significant share in that. This dates from 1985 and is one of no less than 4,920 Colts that were put on a Dutch license plate in that year. in 1984 and 1986 this second generation (of the European) Colt even accounted for more than 5,000 units. Certainly not a rarity at the time, but how often do you see them nowadays, let alone one that is offered for sale? This is currently even the only one in our used car range.

A downright rarity now and then it is also one to lick your fingers off. The Colt has covered less than 40,000 km in its 37-year existence and that has undoubtedly contributed to the fact that it looks almost flawless. At the same time, such a low setting does not necessarily have to be good news for the technology, because there must have been long periods of standstill. According to the provider, work has been done to keep the car in tip-top condition. For example, the gearbox has been ‘preventively overhauled’ and rust is also said to have been kept out in less visible places. In 2016, a new timing belt was installed at 35,000 km, so it has driven at least another 3,000 km in the past six years. Not much, but a somewhat reassuring sign.

Mitsubishi Colt

With a bit of luck, this Mitsubishi Colt is a nice time capsule on wheels. Perhaps not the most inspiring car of its time, but one that takes you all the way back to the ‘ordinary life’ of the mid-80s. What didn’t belong there, however, are the hubcaps. They were added later in life. The Colt also lacks a door handle on the driver’s door. Do you see it as a fun challenge to dot the i’s and make it really perfect? Then you still have to pay a fairly hefty amount before you can call the Colt yours. This is because €5,950 is being asked for it. Is that much? Yes, for ‘only’ a Colt 1.2 GL from 1985, although this seems like an exceptional opportunity.
