Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross firmly under the knife

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has been around for three years now with its sensational appearance: according to its owners, it is high time for a renewal. Whether the model will also come to Europe next year is not entirely clear.

To make the world curious about the radically renewed Eclipse Cross, Mitsubishi is sending this new teaser around. That is the first time that Mitsubishi puts the newcomer in the (darkened) spotlight, although rumors had been circulating about the facelift for a long time. As it seems, the drawing board mainly focused on the nose of the SUV.

If you pick up the nose of the Engelberg Tourer Concept presented earlier, you will see many similarities. Take the big chrome ‘boomerang’ under the headlights and the sharp flat strip of LEDs for the daytime running lights. In the reflection in front of the car in a kind of glass wall, the nose is even more visible. The black area that functions as a grille is also clearly visible there.

At first glance, little seems to change at the rear. However, if you look again in the reflection of the window behind the car, you will see that a lot has been revised. The continuous light bar is passé, so that the ‘double rear window’ will most likely disappear. The shape of the lamps is reminiscent of the shape that Mitsubishi previously drew on the e-Volution Concept.

In the accompanying text, much emphasis is placed on the North American arrival of the SUV. Mitsubishi, for example, emphasizes that the renewed Eclipse Cross is an important point in the previous promise of the brand to provide American showrooms with a lot of news. Also, we now only speak about the North American debut that will take place in the first quarter of 2021. Does Mitsubishi more or less confirm that the European chapter closes for the remarkable SUV?
