Waiting patiently
Today we present you a Mitsubishi Lancer that seems to be worth a try, but has been for sale for quite some time. Presumably because an interested person is difficult to find for a 21-year-old Lancer, although in our opinion he deserves a loving new owner as soon as possible.
Whoever says Mitsubishi Lancer also quickly says ‘Evo’. After all, the sporty rally homologation versions (nice word for hangman) of the Lancer enjoy the greatest fame. There wasn’t an Evolution version of the Lancer that you now have on your screen and that’s probably why it has fallen into oblivion a bit more. Yet this Lancer was also impressive, only for that we have to take a look at his stubborn snout. If you consider that this Lancer entered the international market in 1987, you can imagine that it must have been quite a special sight at the time. The Colt of that time got a similar nose and was therefore a really modern appearance in combination with its smoother butt.
In the year 2022 there is mainly a pretty outdated middle class car that the average mortal will hardly pay attention to. Perhaps that is the reason that the Lancer has been staying at a car company for more than a year. Because let’s be honest, you must have a special place in your heart for this Lancer or for older Mitsubishi’s in general to watch this with interest. Then the question is: where are those enthusiasts? Perhaps here on AutoWeek.nl, that’s why we put it forward.
The Lancer absolutely deserves that, because it seems to be a very honest Lancer who has been surrounded with love in its 31-year existence. The license plate data tells a confidence-inspiring story: it has been owned by one owner from new until last year (when it went to the car company that now offers it). Colleague Lars Krijgsman remembers that this Lancer may have been offered privately last year, with the announcement that it belonged to an old gentleman who had unfortunately passed away. That wouldn’t be surprising given the exterior condition and the low mileage of 157,000 km for its age. In any case, it is a car that has been bought with a tight budget, because it is a 1.3 GL. That was just not the base model. You don’t have to expect much luxury, even for its time. Just a neat and reliable Lancer as you hardly ever see it anymore. Nice too, right?
