Variant Moto Edge X30 gets camera under the screen

Images of the alleged Moto Edge X30, also known as Motorola Edge X or Moto Edge 30 Ultra, have surfaced on a Chinese social network. This shows that the latest Motorola smartphone will have a selfie camera under the screen. It is Motorola’s General Manager Chen Jin who posted the images. According to Chen, the under-screen camera is still a radical choice for the smartphone industry, but the demand for it is very high: “So this time we decided to do whatever it takes, there will be a special version of #motoedgeX30. ” That will be the first smartphone with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor that gets a 60 MP selfie camera under the screen.

So Chen Jin is talking about “a special version of the” Moto Edge X30 that will have an under-screen camera, but we’re not sure which version that is. We also don’t know how many versions of the X30 will be announced. We do know that the quality of this type of camera is not yet the same as that of the regular cameras, which are often located in a screen notch in the screen. We are therefore very curious whether Motorola’s approach with a 60 MP selfie camera will yield better images.

Moto Edge X30 design

Through the reliable OnLeaks images of the Moto Edge X30 have also appeared last month. These images show the device with a camera notch in the screen on the front. It is therefore possible that this is another variant of the X30. We also see that the camera module has round shapes, unlike the Edge 20 Pro. There is a button on the side to activate the Google Assistant and the USB-C port, speaker and microphone are on the bottom. The back is slightly curved towards the edges. There we also find three cameras, an LED flash and a microphone. The fingerprint sensor would be in the screen. The Moto Edge X30/Motorola Edge 30 Ultra can be seen in a blue and gray version, but there may also be more options.

Moto Edge X30 Specifications

Possible specifications of the Moto Edge X30 have also surfaced in November. We already saw the 60 MP selfie camera, and also 68 watt fast charging and the latter option will be new for a Motorola phone. Also striking is the high refresh rate of 144 Hz for the screen and the large 5,000 mAh battery.

Moto Edge X30 launch

Motorola has already confirmed that it will be one of the first to launch a phone with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. That will most likely be the Motorola Edge X30, a variant of which will have a selfie camera under the screen. The phone would be announced on December 9 and hit stores on December 15.
