MV Agusta unveils Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro

After announcing the bike last year, MV Agusta has now unveiled the first limited production series of the Superveloce 1000: the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro, which for MV fulfils a clear objective: to create an object that embodies the aspirations of every motorcyclist.

“The combination of stylistic research, attention to pure aesthetic pleasure, technological innovation and breathtaking performance has allowed us to achieve the goal set at the beginning of the project. Today the market sees a motorcycle that undoubtedly has an oneiric dimension and literally embodies the shape of desire,” says MV.

The new MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro is both a dream and a work of art, according to the Italians. It will be produced in just 500 numbered units and reflects MV Agusta’s “unparalleled history in racing, the brand’s maniacal pursuit of aesthetic pleasure and its constant drive to push technological evolution further.”

The distinctive style elements of the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro, consistent with the Superveloce series with characteristic round headlights and horizontally developed lines, refer to MV Agusta’s past. In the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro, technology and style are fused into a true sculpture on two wheels.

One of the most characteristic elements, both technically and stylistically, is the presence of aerodynamic winglets, which mark a new paradigm in the design and development of new MV Agusta models. In addition to the crucial search for the best drag coefficient (Cx), the engineers have also focused on optimising downforce (Cz), with significant benefits for riding dynamics and incredible stability, a fundamental factor given the bike’s exceptional performance in terms of both top speed and acceleration.

By the way, this is not the first time that MV has used winglets. Back in 1972, MV used similar solutions for its Grand Prix motorcycles, from which the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro draws its original inspiration. Extensive tests have shown that the bike offers absolute directional precision and stability at high speeds, without sacrificing agility and maneuverability in different riding conditions. According to MV.

The analysis of aerodynamic flows, derived from aeronautical techniques, was a fundamental part of the development of the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro. According to MV, the result offers optimum protection at high speed, improved overall comfort, optimisation of performance, perfect breathing of the engine and evacuation of hot air. The evolution led to a reduced extension of the lower fairing and the development of a lateral aerodynamic opening to improve airflow.

The material chosen to give the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro its aesthetic form is -of course- carbon fiber, popularly known as carbon fiber, which has been used in two different processes, forged and laminated, to add further stylistic refinement. 41 parts have been made from the exotic stuff, including the dashboard support, chain guard, complete fairing and other parts in the special kit.

The iconic wheels are inspired by the stylized star-shaped wheels of the legendary MV Agusta F4 750 Serie Oro, reinterpreted with a stylistic exercise that bridges the gap between past and future through a mix of cast and spoked wheels. The tribute to the F4 is also evident in the titanium 4 exhaust developed by Akrapovic specifically for the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro.

The use of precious materials is clearly visible in every detail of the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro. The saddle, for example, is designed for the highest comfort combined with optimum ergonomics and is made of leather and Alcantara and features the characteristic MV logo. A leather strap runs the entire length of the tank, starting from the laser-engraved plate at the base and ending at the “Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro” logo, below which is the unit number.

The rear wheel hub features the MV logo, with a design that reflects the headlight, a unique detail in the world of two wheels. The use of titanium in the fasteners further enriches the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro. As a tribute to the history of MV Agusta, it features the Ciclistica Silver, Pearl Shock Red and Gold colours.
