Nearly 214,000 electric cars in the Netherlands

The number of cars with electric drive is now 213,946 copies, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RvO) announced on Friday. This includes fully electric cars and models with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The majority of Dutch cars with electric drive are fully electric models. According to the RvO, 116,148 units drove around on 31 March. A year earlier, there were still 54,453 pieces. The number of plug-in hybrid models stands at 97,553, the number of hydrogen cars with a fuel cell at 245. These vehicles also run electrically.

The Tesla Model 3 is the most common all-electric car in the Netherlands with 31,528, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is still the most purchased plug-in hybrid in recent years. In total, there are more than 8.5 million passenger cars in the Netherlands.

The number of (semi-) public charging stations in the Netherlands rose in March to 55,820 units, of which 1,363 are fast chargers. In Amsterdam, most charging stations were added last month with 178 units. In the capital you can now load at 5,298 locations. The Hague follows with 2,819 locations.
