Do you think Netflix is too expensive? The streaming service will soon come with a cheaper subscription form. For this you have to hand in a few things.
Cheaper Netflix subscription with advertising
With the increasing range of streaming services, the monthly costs are getting higher and higher. Do you have a subscription to Netflix, HBO Max and Disney Plus? Then you will soon spend 30 euros per month watching movies and series. Many people do not have this money and therefore share different accounts. Netflix does not like this at all and will soon come up with measures to combat this. But that is not everything. The streaming service also comes with a cheaper subscription.
Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos recently confirmed that the company is working on a subscription that includes advertising. According to Sarandos, ‘there is a large group of people who would rather see commercials and pay less’. Watching commercials, however, remains a choice; the current ad-free plan isn’t going anywhere. Netflix as you know it doesn’t change. We’re just adding a cheaper option for the people who want it.”

No concrete release date has been announced yet, but according to Sarandos, Netflix wants to bring the cheaper subscription ‘before the end of 2022’. We also don’t know anything about the monthly costs of the cheaper subscription, but it is probably a few euros lower than the standard price of 11.99 euros.
Things are not going so well
The arrival of a cheaper Netflix subscription is not surprising, because the streaming service has not been going well for a while. The number of new subscribers is slowing and in the first quarter of 2022, Netflix lost more users than it gained for the first time in ten years. According to the company, this is because too many people are sharing their accounts — and that’s not the intent.
However, Netflix is confident in the future. With new anti-sharing measures and a cheaper subscription form, the streaming service expects to make full profit again in no time. What do you think of a cheaper Netflix subscription with advertising? Let us know in the comments below this article.
