New Apple TV 4K is coming: this is the expected release date

The Apple TV 4K was last updated at the end of 2022, so it’s high time for a new one. This is when you can expect it.

New Apple TV 4K is coming

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently published his first Power On newsletter of this year. In the newsletter he outlines Apple’s plans for 2025, which also includes a new Apple TV 4K. This time, for the first time, Gurman is more specific about the appearance of the new model. According to him, the next generation Apple TV 4K is scheduled for release by the end of the year.

Apple usually has a few big launches in the fall. New iPhones, Apple Watches and AirPods will be released in September, and Macs and iPads will be released in October. Last year, for the first time, Apple did not hold an event for the Mac launches. Instead, the first M4 Macs were announced on three separate days. These new Macs were delivered to customers in early November.

Based on Gurman’s report, we conclude that the new Apple TV 4K will be released in October or November. This may mean that the device will be announced in October and delivered in November. Just as is often the case with new Macs. This would be three years after the last Apple TV update.

This is what you can expect

So far, not much is known about what new features Apple is putting in the new Apple TV 4K. We know it probably contains a new WiFi modem from Apple. That may allow for network improvements with Apple’s growing ecosystem of home devices.

Furthermore, there is probably also support for Apple Intelligence. To achieve this, the Apple TV must have a more powerful chip, such as the A17 Pro or A18, and also more RAM. While most of the current AI features aren’t suitable for tvOS, we expect to see at least a new, more capable Siri.
