New basic engine for Cupra Formentor

The Cupra Formentor a sporty SUV that is only available with at least 200 hp engines? Forget it. The Cupra coupé SUV also gets the well-known 150 hp 1.5 TSI in its nose.

The Cupra Formentor has been marketed as a coupé-SUV with a sporty character and according to its creators therefore deserves a place in the Cupra family. The SUV is therefore not available as a Seat and that is still unique within the Cupra family. The Formentor is still at least 204 hp strong. A milder motorized version, however, should provide the higher sales numbers.

Cupra introduces a new entry-level engine for the Formentor: the well-known 150 hp and 250 Nm strong 1.5 TSI petrol engine. It can be linked to a manual six-speed gearbox, but is also available with a DSG automatic transmission with seven gears. Does that want a little bit ahead? In just under 9 seconds, the Formentor 1.5 TSI accelerates to 100 km / h and the acceleration stops when the speedometer is at 204 km / h.

Then the question: is the 150 hp strong Cupra Formentor 1.5 TSI coming to the Netherlands? No, Cupra says to Techzle. We do get the 310 hp strong top version and two plug-in hybrids, parked on the price list yesterday. The mildest of those two plug-ins is the 204 horsepower variant. Just like the 245 hp plug-in, the cheapest plug-in version will soon have a 150 hp petrol engine on board, incidentally a 1.4 instead of a 1.5 TSI. Which, thanks to an electric motor, delivers a total of 204 hp is and remains the entry-level model for the Netherlands. The fact that the 150 hp Formentor 1.5 TSI does not come to the Netherlands, undoubtedly has to do with the presence of that 204 hp plug-in. The entry-level plug hybrid delivers considerably more power without emitting more CO2. Price-wise, the 150 hp TSI version does not seem very promising in our price landscape formed by bpm.
