New BMW 4 Series Convertible braves the cold

The brand new BMW 4-series has recently come along mainly in Coupé shape, but now the Cabrio has been sent out again. In the snow the open version runs the necessary test kilometers, with the fabric hood closed to keep the cold out.

It will not be in time for the coming spring, but the BMW 4-series Convertible is already in an advanced test stage. After all, it’s been around eight months since we last saw the car. Then the big surprise was that the open 4-series gets a fabric cover. For the first time since the convertible version of the E46, the mid-sized BMW has a soft hood again. It seems that the roof construction can fold away nicely compact, because the 4-series still has a relatively slender appearance as a convertible. Of course it also saves the necessary kilos compared to a steel roof.

Unfortunately, this camouflaged specimen does not show too many details, just like last time. Yet it is clear that the new 4-series gets a hefty grille. Behind that grille is expected at least a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 156 hp. At the top of the range is the 3.0-liter six-in-line that will also serve in the M4. The most powerful version is said to deliver around 480 hp. Both rear and four-wheel drive are options with various drive lines. Later this year, BMW will give more of the appearance of the new 4-series price. We expect a market launch early next year.
