‘New Chief Designer for Land Rover’

Land Rover has a new chief designer. That Automotive News report. Massimo Frascella has taken over at the helm and recently demonstrated that he is capable of preparing the brand for the future.

Officially, Gerry McGovern is still the chief designer of Land Rover, but it looks like he will hand over the baton to Frascella (photo 2). Although Land Rover does not yet confirm it, Frascella’s LinkedIn profile shows that he is the new chief designer of the brand. That discovered Automotive News. He would have started in that position last month.

Frascella has now been working for Land Rover as Creative Director for nine years. The new Defender was created under his responsibility. Perhaps the most important design in the recent history of the brand. Looks like it got him a promotion. Previously, he was responsible for the design of the Range Rover Velar and the Land Rover Discovery Sport. The Italian previously worked at Lincoln and Kia, among others. At Kia, he stood alongside Peter Schreyer at the cradle of the third generation Rio and the third generation Sportage.

McGovern, the man he replaces, will remain in the design top of the brand as Chief Creative Officer. More of a management function than a role at the drawing board. Under McGovern’s creative direction, success number Range Rover Evoque was created and from the middle of the first decade of this century an important revolution was heralded at Land Rover.
