New design boss for Volkswagen

Touch of Bentley to Volkswagen

Volkswagen ID7

It was already buzzing through the corridors that Volkswagen would get a new design boss. Now Volkswagen itself confirms that the former design chief of Bentley will be at the helm of Volkswagen’s design department.

At the end of 2022 it was announced that Michael Mauer could now call himself the head of the design department of the Volkswagen Group. Now the Volkswagen car brand is also getting a new head of its design department: Andreas Mindt. Andreas Mindt was Bentley’s design chief until now, but he didn’t have that role for long. It was only since early 2021 that Andreas Mindt has been at the helm of Bentley’s design department. At Bentley, Mindt developed the brand’s new design language that debuted on the limited edition Batur. Now he is moving on to Volkswagen.

Andreas Mindt is no stranger to Volkswagen. Mindt has previously worked on the design of the first generation Tiguan and the previous generation Volkswagen Golf. Between 2014 and 2021, Mindt worked at Audi, where he drew lines for the Audi A1, Q3, Q8 and e-Tron GT, among others. Andreas Mindt succeeds the Slovak Jozef Kabaň. Kabaň will now be assigned the position of Creative Art Director and will, according to Volkswagen, develop future mobility solutions, among other things.
