Porsche is preparing a new generation of the Panamera. The prototype is still well packed, but nevertheless already betrays a number of possible style features of the new Panamera.
The current second generation Porsche Panamera has been on the market since the end of 2016. In 2020, the model received a facelift, which indicates that a new generation is slowly coming. The facelift of the first generation Panamera also ran for three years. Where the first and second generation Panamera differ considerably from each other when it comes to the silhouette and the window line, Porsche seems to work a bit more conservatively for the upcoming third generation. With a quick glance, the prototype strongly resembles the current model, but there are some differences to be seen.
For starters, there are the headlights. Each headlight unit still has four LEDs, but instead of round, these are now rectangular à la de Taycan. The prototype of the all-electric Macan also had such headlights, so it is quite conceivable that this will be the new family face of Porsche. Furthermore, the headlight units seem to be slightly narrower than those of the current Panamera. The same goes for the rear lights. It is difficult to see whether that will be a continuous LED bar, but at least the rear lights seem narrower than they are now. Furthermore, Porsche is covering a piece of the rear side windows, which indicates that the Panamera may have a slightly different window line.
It is not yet certain which powertrains the new Panamera will receive, but it is obvious that Porsche will emphasize a wide range of plug-in hybrid powertrains. That is already the case with the current model, with the 700 hp Turbo S E-Hybrid as the range topper. We expect that Porsche will only reveal the new Panamera in a while, because recently a milder refined model was also spotted, which may indicate a model year update. Given the latter, it could well be that the new Panamera will not see the light of day until 2024.
