‘New Hyundai Pony Coupé coming this month’

Give in to Pony love

‘New Hyundai Pony Coupé coming this month’

Do you find the Hyundai Ioniq 6 not special enough for whatever reason? Then there is a glimmer of hope for you on the horizon and you don’t even have to take Hyundai off your shortlist. It may come with a production version of the retro design peppered N Vision 74 that will be called Pony Coupé.

In the middle of last year, Hyundai pulled out two visual spectacles, one of which seemed a lot more concrete than the other. After all, with the RN22e, Hyundai was clearly looking ahead to an extremely muscular N version of the Ioniq 6. The other attention grabber – the N Vision 74 – was Hyundai’s declaration of love for its own past and its future. The N Vision 74 was a concept car that, like the Ioniq 5, was clearly laced with design influences from the past, while the colossus did have an extremely modern powertrain. The Hyundai N Vision 74, apparently driven straight from the 1980s, was an electric coupe with a fuel cell on board. The Koreans remained tight-lipped about production plans and they still do so officially. Yet there is news about the possible arrival of a production version.

The Korean Money Today reports based on unspecified sources that Hyundai is organizing a ‘Pony Day’ on May 27 at the Hyundai Motor Studio in Seoul. There are no small horses on display there, but it is said that something else nice. Hyundai would present a Pony Coupé that will actually go into production. Do not count on it being a model that goes into series production in large numbers. Furthermore, you should not be surprised if the car that may appear later this month looks less intense than the N Vision 74 of which it is a derivative.

Hyundai can’t let go of the Pony Coupé Concept. The design of the Ioniq 5 is to some extent inspired by that of the Pony Coupé Concept, in 2021 the brand showed this Pony EV Heritage and in November it was announced that Hyundai will produce the Pony Coupé Concept presented in 1974 again. After all, the original no longer exists.
