iPad Air in two sizes
The last iPad Air dates back to 2022. The iPad Air has a 10.9-inch LCD screen. Predecessor iPad Air 2020 also had a 10.9-inch screen and the 2019 version was even only 10.5 inches. The new iPad Air has now been announced in two sizes. In 11-inch and in a larger 13-inch. The latter has 30 percent more screen space than the 11-inch model.
First iPad Air with an M2 chip
The iPad Air 2024 that has been announced is equipped with an M2 chip. This is a chip that we know from the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air 2024. Thanks to this fast and powerful processor, you can now perform the most demanding tasks on the iPad Air. The predecessor from 2022 is still equipped with the M1 chip. Thanks to the M2 chip, the new iPad Air is 50 percent faster.
Front camera has been moved
The selfie cameras of the new iPads are no longer on the short side, but have moved to the long side. This way, they are located at the top center, just like on a MacBook, when you use the iPad with the Magic Keyboard. This spot is also more convenient during FaceTime and video meetings.
The stereo speakers with spatial audio are also placed horizontally. The 13-inch model delivers even better sound quality than the 11-inch model, with twice as much bass.
The new iPad Air also has faster WiFi and support for Apple Pencil Pro, Apple Pencil (USB-C) and Magic Keyboard. The Cellular models are also equipped with 5G. The new Smart Folio case snaps magnetically onto the iPad Air and is available in Charcoal Gray, Light Violet, Denim, and Sage Green.
iPad Air release date 2024
The newly announced iPad Air 2024 is available in Space Gray, Blue, Purple and Starlight. The iPad can be ordered immediately and will be delivered from Wednesday, May 15. The 11-inch version costs €719 and the 13-inch version €969. If you choose WiFi + Cellular, you pay respectively €889 and €1139.
